World Language

In third grade, our focus continues to be on strengthening linguistic and cultural literacy, with an emphasis on Spanish language acquisition. Our approach prioritizes practical communication, expanding vocabulary, and fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures.

Mathematics

In third grade, students further their understanding of essential concepts such as place value, operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), fractions, and geometry. The focus is on developing fluency and proficiency in fundamental operations while introducing key geometric and measurement concepts.

Visual & Performing Arts

In third grade, students continue building upon their creative foundation and fostering a deep love for artistic expression and self-discovery. Engaging with a diverse array of art forms, they explore the realms of creativity, experiment with various materials, and effectively integrate their artistic expressions with other subjects and real-life experiences.

Physical Education

Third grade emphasizes mastering proper techniques for both locomotor and nonlocomotor skills and gaining proficiency in manipulating objects in various ways. Additionally, students explore alternative movements such as tumbling, creative dance, and formal dance.

History/Social Science

In third grade, students delve into the rich tapestry of history and social sciences, focusing on various aspects that contribute to their understanding of the world around them. The curriculum encourages active citizenship, comprehension of governmental structures, and appreciation of the diverse cultures and geographical aspects that shape their communities and society at large.

Health

Our health curriculum is designed to promote health literacy and empower students to make informed choices for a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Emphasizing social behaviors and skills crucial for safety and security, the third-grade standards also focus on students' roles and responsibilities within their families, schools, and communities.

Language

Students in third grade reach a critical juncture in their language development. While the focus continues on literacy skills, there's a transition from phonics to a broader scope including vocabulary acquisition, comprehension strategies, text analysis, language conventions, and writing. Proficiency in reading and effective expression through writing become key objectives.

Science

In third grade, we continue to build upon the IB foundation, fostering a passion for science through inquiry, exploration, and effective communication. Guided by the FOSS (Full Option Science System) approach, we inspire curiosity and hands-on exploration of various scientific phenomena, enabling students to delve deeper into the captivating world of science.
