We pride ourselves on a rigorous academic approach anchored in the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. Our curriculum utilizes a blend of FOSS Science and Singapore Math, elevating our educational standards beyond traditional state benchmarks. This unique integration cultivates a holistic learning environment, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a global perspective in every student.

Science

In third grade, we continue to build upon the IB foundation, fostering a passion for science through inquiry, exploration, and effective communication. Guided by the FOSS (Full Option Science System) approach, we inspire curiosity and hands-on exploration of various scientific phenomena, enabling students to delve deeper into the captivating world of science.

Energy & Matter
  • Understand that energy can be stored in various forms and that it powers motion and heat

  • Explore the conversion of energy from one form to another in living organisms and machines

  • Comprehend that the Sun is a major source of energy for Earth and its effects as light and heat

  • Study matter, its different forms (solid, liquid, gas), atoms as the smallest components, and the periodic table of elements

  • Recognize how energy moves or transfers through waves, electricity, or moving objects

Light
  • Learn that light, like heat, is a form of energy

  • Experiment with properties of light, including reflection and its effect on the color of objects

  • Explore the behaviors of light and how it travels from a source to create shadows

  • Understand the impact of light on the perception of direction and shadow

  • Comprehend how different colors of light affect objects

Earth Sciences
  • Deepen understanding of ecology by exploring diverse environments and the organisms adapted to live in them

  • Study Earth's habitats and relate adaptations to survival and fitness of organisms

  • Learn about the patterns and movements of the Sun, Moon, and stars, and their effects on seasons and phases of the Moon

  • Explore the relationships between organisms and their environment, understanding the concept of extinction and changes due to environmental impacts

  • Develop investigation and experimentation skills, emphasizing precise measurements, accurate predictions, and data analysis
