We pride ourselves on a rigorous academic approach anchored in the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework. Our curriculum utilizes a blend of FOSS Science and Singapore Math, elevating our educational standards beyond traditional state benchmarks. This unique integration cultivates a holistic learning environment, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a global perspective in every student.

Mathematics

In third grade, students further their understanding of essential concepts such as place value, operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), fractions, and geometry. The focus is on developing fluency and proficiency in fundamental operations while introducing key geometric and measurement concepts.

Algebraic Thinking
  • Students fluently apply multiplication and division (within 100) and use these operations to solve word problems

  • Emphasis on understanding the relationship between multiplication and division, and using inverse operations

  • Mastery of multiplication tables (products of numbers from 1 to 9) and application of associative and commutative laws

Operations
  • Extension of understanding place value to numbers with four digits, including rounding to the nearest 10 or 100

  • Proficiency in addition and subtraction (within 1,000) with regrouping or composing a ten

  • Exploring whole numbers as fractions and understanding equivalent fractions

  • Developing a foundational understanding of fractions as numbers using visual models and number lines

  • Representation and comparison of unit fractions, equivalent fractions, and fractions with the same numerator or denominator

Geometry
  • Focus on measurement, including length, liquid volume, and area of plane figures, incorporating fractions in measurement

  • Problem-solving involving the perimeter of polygons and understanding the relationship between area and multiplication

  • Comparison of common geometric shapes based on attributes, relating fraction work to partitioning shapes and areas

  • Introduction to right angles in geometric shapes, beginning with right triangles
