In third grade, students continue building upon their creative foundation and fostering a deep love for artistic expression and self-discovery. Engaging with a diverse array of art forms, they explore the realms of creativity, experiment with various materials, and effectively integrate their artistic expressions with other subjects and real-life experiences.

Dance
  • Students combine movement in place, movement across the room, and an understanding of space and time to create original dance sequences with kinesthetic and visual rhythm

  • Emphasis on incorporating dance elements like force or energy into improvisations and movement sequences

  • Learning to structure dance sequences with a clear beginning, middle, and end, incorporating a variety of shapes, movements, and levels in space

  • Collaboration: Creating, memorizing, and performing movement sequences with a partner or a small group

  • Appreciating diversity: Comparing and contrasting dances from various cultures to enrich their repertoire of movements and understanding of dance's cultural significance
