Physical Education

Third grade emphasizes mastering proper techniques for both locomotor and nonlocomotor skills and gaining proficiency in manipulating objects in various ways. Additionally, students explore alternative movements such as tumbling, creative dance, and formal dance.

Motor Skills
  • Mastering locomotor skills for activities like chasing, fleeing, and dodging in tag-type games, as well as basic steps in line, circle, and folk dances

  • Refining body management skills through exercises like forward rolls, straddle rolls, tripods, and moving along a ground-level balance beam

  • Enhancing manipulative skills, including throwing, catching, kicking, striking, hand dribbling, and foot dribbling, while focusing on correct technique and consistent practice

Movement Concepts
  • Describing in detail the correct technique for manipulative skills and understanding differences in techniques based on various situations

  • Learning key elements for accuracy in rolling or throwing objects and preparing for future gameplay by understanding speed and directional alterations to avoid opponents

  • Building on rhythmic skills, learning about folk dances, line dances, and circle dances, comparing and contrasting them, and performing each type with a partner

Physical Fitness
  • Engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activities three to four days a week, progressively increasing activity duration to enhance muscular strength and endurance

  • Practicing stretches to improve flexibility, focusing on correct warm-up and cool-down exercises before and after vigorous physical activities

  • Understanding the importance of warm-up and cool-down activities for physical readiness and recovery, along with the body's reaction to physical activity and the components of health-related fitness. Additionally, gaining knowledge of proper lifting techniques, safe flexibility exercises, and the link between fluids, energy expenditure, calories, and fat burn
